Iris do best in full sun but a half day of sun will do especially in very hot climates. Iris will thrive in most well drained soils. To plant your new rhizome: Dig a hole as deep as the rhizomes roots. Inside the hole, make a hill high enough to hold the rhizome at ground level or slightly below and cover the roots with soil. The rhizomes should be planted so that the top of the rhizome is exposed. In extremely hot or cold climates covering the rhizome with up to an inch of soil may be desirable, but never more than an inch. Then water Her in to settle.
